Core offer
Solution circle
This an online group consultation session, which uses an approach called a Solution Circle (SC). This is currently an offer which is open to all schools and settings in the city; however, continuation will depend upon demand and uptake.
What does it involve?
After seeking parental consent, schools or settings are able to contact the EPS to raise anonymised cases at the SC. SCs can also be used by settings to discuss wider issues or topics within Special Educational Needs (SEN), such as supporting with children with attentional difficulties.
What happens during and after a SC?
During each SC, a case or problem is presented by a representative(s) from a setting. A record of the discussion is scribed during the meeting and is shared with attendees, along with potential additional resources, after the meeting. Each SC is always finalised by generating an action plan. Therefore, the SC document and action plan can be taken back and used as part of support plans for the individual CYP or problem situation. The SC document also provides evidence of seeking external professional advice and implementing a graduated approach. Further details on how to join and to schedule a SC are available from Rachael Pillai; Rachael.Pillai@stoke.gov.uk
