Educational psychology services

About the service

Stoke-on-Trent's Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is dedicated to supporting the well-being and development of children and young people across the city. We provide professional psychological services primarily within educational settings, focusing on inclusion, progress, and development. Our growing team, led by experienced Educational Psychologists, includes Trainee and Assistant Educational Psychologists, as well as Specialist Inclusion Support Officers.

We also offer a specialist Community Psychology strand, working with partner services to provide early and wider support for families. As part of Stoke-on-Trent City Council's Children and Families Services, we contribute to the council's vision of supporting family life and creating a fairer city.

Educational psychology professionals

Educational Psychologists are highly trained professionals who specialise in supporting the learning, well-being, and development of children and young people aged 0-25. They hold doctorate-level qualifications and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), ensuring they adhere to strict ethical and professional standards. Their work typically involves consultation, assessment, intervention, training, and research, all aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people.

Value-driven service

At Stoke-on-Trent EPS, we believe in working together. We partner with parents, carers, schools, and other professionals to support the learning and development of children and young people. Putting children, families, and communities at the heart of our service is essential to us.

  • We're passionate about inclusion. We believe that when everyone has access to education and opportunities, regardless of any challenges they face, it has a positive impact on their well-being and progress.
  • We're also committed to innovation. We continuously adapt and improve our services by staying up to date with the latest research and best practices.
  • We strive to be accessible. Although we're a small team, we offer a range of support across the city, including assessments, participation in multi-agency meetings, leading projects, and working in schools. We also aim to be present on social media and available for advice and support.
