What is a Primary Authority Partnership

A Primary Authority Partnership is a legally recognised partnership between regulators and a business. As part of this partnership you will be allocated a dedicated Trading Standards officer who will be able to provide you with an agreed tailored package of assured, reliable regulatory advice and officer support so that your business can trade and grow with confidence.

Who can apply for Primary Authority Partnership

A Primary Authority Partnership is available to all businesses, trade associations and similar groups of businesses who require Trading Standards regulatory advice or support.

What can the Primary Authority Partnership include

The partnership is tailored to suit your business needs and can include as many or as few of the elements below as you require.

  • Dedicated officer who will get to know your business needs and who will devise a packaged tailored for you
  • A single point of contact and coordinator who will liaise and co-ordinate with other local authorities, regulators and enforcement bodies as necessary.
  • On-going comprehensive advice and guidance from professionally qualified officers, with regular meetings where required
  • Face- face meetings as required
  • Assured advice – This means that other regulators, (local authorities) must respect the advice given by the Primary Authority
  • Where appropriate, a national inspection plan can be produced, encouraging co-ordinated inspections by local authorities saving time and resources
  • Review of business processes and procedures
  • Audit of business compliance with specific legislation
  • Review of terms and conditions and recommendations concerning unfair terms

Terms and Conditions

Primary Authority Partnerships will generally be based on the standard terms and conditions developed by Office of Product Safety & Standards, The details specific to each agreement will be outlined in the application and supporting documentation

Year 1: set up + 3 hours Primary Authority Activity per year

       £343, no VAT

Subsequent Years: 3 hours Primary Authority Activity per year

       £286, no VAT

Enhanced level:

Year 1: set up + 10 hours Primary Authority Activity per year

    £915, no VAT

Subsequent Years: 10 hours Primary Authority Activity per year

   £801, no VAT

Premium level:

Year 1: set up + 25 hours Primary Authority Activity per year

   £1945, no VAT

Subsequent Years: 25 hours Primary Authority Activity per year

   £1830.50, no VAT
